AirWallet

AirWallet Offline · web app

Your offline signer, from a web page. Nothing from an app store.

Open it on a spare phone or computer, add it to the home screen, then switch that device's internet off for good. Your keys stay there. It signs by QR code, exactly like the AirWallet Offline app.

Open AirWallet Offline

Make wallets only after the internet is off for good

Install it while the device is online. Then turn on airplane mode, switch off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, forget the saved Wi-Fi networks, and never connect that device again. Only then create your wallets. The page itself never connects to anything, but the rest of the device does while it's online.

Set it up in five steps

  1. On the device you'll keep offline, open airwallet.tech/offline/app while it still has internet.
  2. Add it to the home screen.
    • iPhone and iPad: in Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen.
    • Android: in Chrome, ⋮ → Install app (or Add to Home screen).
    • Mac, Windows, Linux: in Chrome or Edge, the install icon at the right of the address bar. Safari on a Mac: File → Add to Dock.
  3. Open it once from the new icon and wait for “Ready to work offline”. That's when everything it needs is on the device.
  4. Turn the internet off for good. Airplane mode, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off, saved networks forgotten.
  5. Create your wallets. Write the words on paper and type three of them back. Until you do, a new wallet won't show where to pay it.

Your words are the backup. Restoring takes a minute.

A browser can delete what it keeps: clearing a site's data, a storage cleanup, a reset. Your coins aren't in the browser, though. They're on their blockchains, and the words bring them back.

Type the words into AirWallet on any device (+ → Import), or into another wallet app (Sparrow, MetaMask, Phantom, Cake Wallet and others), and the same coins are there. For everything at once, names included, save a backup file too (Settings → Back up all keys → Save as a file), then move it to a USB stick or SD card. Import → the file brings it all back.

Where it runs

Firefox runs it in a tab but can't install it on a computer. Monero and Zcash need a browser from 2021 or later; the other coins run on older ones too. The camera scans the online copy's codes; it asks once.

The risks, honestly

Which one should I use?

Its other half: AirWallet Online

The everyday side is a web page too. It watches this wallet, prepares payments as QR codes and sends what this one signed. It holds no keys. Any AirWallet works as the online side, and any version of each works with any version of the other.

Updates, only when you ask

An offline signer doesn't need updates: newer online copies keep making codes older ones read. The installed app stays exactly as it was installed. If you do want the newest one, press Update this device's copy above while the device is online, before you take it offline for good.
